The skin creases in areas of greatest use where facial muscles are repeatedly used throughout our life. As we get older the ageing process causes collagen and elastin production in the skin to decrease and become damaged with overuse resulting in the permanent lines.

Injections that relax the muscle (commonly known as Botox) are our most prevalent anti-ageing procedures to minimize the formation of wrinkles and to soften existing lines. The most common areas for treatment are the Glabella (frown lines between the eyes), Peri-Orbital area (crow’s feet) and the forehead.

The practitioner will begin with a pre-treatment consultation to determine the desired look you wish to achieve. You will then be advised on the best course of treatment to attain your goals. Should you decide to proceed, your medical history will be recorded in detail in combination a systematic examination of your face.

Once the skin has been thoroughly cleansed, the Botox injections are placed directly into the muscles which you have decided to have treated. Most clients experience little to no discomfort as the needle used is extremely fine.

The procedure time is approximately 15 minutes.  Bruising is uncommon and there will be minimal redness following treatment with most clients continuing their day as normal without anybody noticing. You will notice the lines visibly decrease over the following week.

We advise that the treated area is not rubbed or massaged after treatment and you do not engage in vigorous exercise. It is important that you also remain upright for 3-4 hour post treatment.

Botox is one of the safest procedures available and side effects are rare. However, there is the potential of the treatment being dispersed into an adjacent muscle which can result in a temporary weakness such as drooping of the upper eyelid. These effects are short-term, lasting a few weeks at most.
